The North Carolina Display
In 1904, North Carolina produced one-third of the peanuts consumed in the world, which was why peanuts had such a prominent place in the agricultural exhibit of the state. The exhibit showed seven different varieties of this important crop of North Carolina. Peanut production gave employment to thousands of people. The state also excelled in the production of peas and thirty-two varieties of peas were on display.
