Elisha Harrell was a son of pioneer, Chester Harrell and his second wife Betsy Stevens. 

Elisha's first wife was Abigail Buckley. He is buried beside his second wife, Margaret C. Harrell in Sims Cemetery.

SMITH 03 May 1838 in Fayette, Indiana3. She was born 24 Jul 1815 in Pendleton, Pickens District, South Carolina4, and died 26 Dec 1881 in Fayette, Indiana4.

2. SAMUEL CHESTER.5 HARRELL (ELISHA4, CHESTER3, WILLIAM2, RICHARD1) was born 1850 in Fayette, Indiana17, and died 06 Aug 1930 in Fairfield, Franklin, Indiana18. He married ALICE HILL 01 Mar 1888 in Franklin, Indiana. She was born 1863, and died 1944.

Obituary: Samuel C. Harrell, age 80, died at his home in this city (Brookville), Wednesday evening, August 6. He is survived by one son, Lewis, of Fairfield, and one daughter, Mrs. Edna Stewart of Indianapolis. Funeral services will be at the Blooming Grove M. E. Church at 2:00. Burial will be in a Fairfield Cemetery. (August 7, 1930, Brookville Democrat.)

John Willis wrote about his ancestor: "Samuel Chester Harrell was a gentleman farmer who liked nice horses and fancy buggies. Samuel had a big house near the river in Brookville, IN. It was a 2 story house with a porch and 2 fireplaces. It was located about 300 feet above the high water mark. They were not the first owners of the house. .... Samuel was reported to have sold a steam traction engine to the transportation museum at Deerfield, MI."

 

John also noted that, "Edna's brother Louis Harrel thrashed wheat all over the country. Louis' wife was Grace McManus and Grace had 2 sisters. Sister "Fan" and possibly a second sister living in Connersville, IN and another sister living at Milroy, IN. Edna Mae Harrell was born February 26, 1893 at Blooming Grove, Franklin Co, IN and died December 20, 1980 at Indianapolis. She had two brothers, Louis Harrell, born January 11, 1889, and Vincent Harrell (wife Helen). Samuel and his wife, Mary Alice Hill were buried in Sims Cemetery, Brookville, IN. Edna and Charles Stewart's daughter, Marjorie Elizabeth Stewart, was sent to spend her summers on the farm with Samuel and Mary Alice."
