Wade family of Hannon and Bronaugh Missouri

Lisa Worley descends from this family. She has shared the information.

Samuel Lewis Wade was born in 1842 in Monongalia Co., VA...where he married a distant cousin, Marelda Cunningham (both sides of their families lead back to George Wade the first who came from over seas, rumored to be from Wales, but not proven) in 1862. Marelda was born in 1843 same county & state as Samuel. She was the daughter of James & Cathrine Wade Cunningham.

In 1864 they moved to Vermillion County, IL. In 1893 they moved to Vernon Co., MO and farmed several different farms both in Vernon and Barton counties. Their final move was to Hannon, Barton, MO in 1912. Samuel died in 1919 and Marelda died in 1934. They had the following children: Almeda (Burton) 1863; Emory 1865; James Daniel 1867; Lillie Kathrine (Wallen) 1868; George Edward 1870; Lindsay Clark 1875; Mary Elizabeth (Spainhoward) 1878; Kelley 1880; Frederick Lewis 1882; Nettie Marelda (Stoller) 1889.

George Edward Wade was born in 1870 in Vermilion Co., IL. He came with his family to Missouri in 1893, as stated above. He married Mary Alice Ritchie (born in 1877), daughter of Jacob & Sally (Hurt) Ritchie, in 1896. They were farmers and he also was a part-time mail carrier. They were members of the Freewill Baptist Church. After retiring, they moved to Liberal, MO. George died in 1950, and Mary (a.k.a "the grandma with the ponytail) died in 1966. They had the following children: Ivy Belle (Hartzfeld) 1899; Glen Ritchie 1901; & Merle Edward 1905.

Merle Edward Wade, who was born in Barton Co., MO married Dorcas Worsley in 1929 in Hannon, MO. Dorcas was the daughter of Boyd & Arra Worsley. Both were graduates of Bronaugh High School & members of the First Christian Church. Merle worked as a physical aide at State Hospital #3 in Nevada.

Mary Alice's parents were Jacob Houk & Sally Hurt Ritchie. Jacob was born Dec. 24, 1838 & died Dec 25, 1926.....(he also married again after Sally died in 1911 to a lady who was also named Sally Hurt!) Jacob & Sally had 10 children, Mary Alice being #8. They moved to MO in 1889. He farmed & kept cattle on a 300 acre farm 7 miles SE of Nevada, MO for 4 years. He traded that in 1894, for 240 acres in the east part of Leroy Township, Barton County, MO; near the Hannon Station on the MO Pacific RR. He was there 15 years. He did a lot of traveling, and later lived with Mary & George Wade 1 mile east & 1 mile n of Hannon, Mo and moved with them when they went to Liberal.
