The Eaton family was prominent in Moundville in the early days. George Thomas Eaton was a well known citizen who served in a number of juries and other public events. He was born in Kentucky and appears first in Vernon County in the 1880 census when he is shown with his family in Henry Township in Vernon County:
By the 1900 census they were in Moundville, Township
The 1910 census continues to list them in Moundville Township:
George T. Eaton died April 11, 1917 in Moundville. His death certificate lists his birth date as December 2, 1842 and his parents as William J. Eaton and Sintha Bush, both born in Kentucky. He was buried in Moore Cemetery.
Nannie Jane Eaton died September 6, 1926 in Nevada. Her death certificate tells that she was born December 14, 1850 and it appears to list her father as James Styler. However, the death certificate for her son John B. Eaton who died in 1946 plainly shows his mother's maiden name as Nannie J. Stayton so there is uncertainty as to the proper spelling. Luther P. Eaton was the informant for his mother's death certificate.
Luther P. Eaton was a son of George T. and Nannie Eaton. He married Amelia Bales, daughter of James and Elizabeth Rogers Bales. The 1910 census shows them in Moundville township, living on Logan Road:
The child that had died was Gladys Eaton, 1904 - 1906. By 1920, they had moved into Moundville and Luther was listed as a merchant. Therefore the photo to the right was probably taken about that time.

The 1930 census shows that they had moved into Nevada where Luther was a proprietor of a feed store:
